How to fix Dead By Daylight for both killers and survivors

Add a competitive mode.. here's how I would like it to work. 2 player queues for the survivor side. Killer gets a single perk ban per game to use against the survivors. Gen speed is slowed down, and perks will be limited on what you can use. Sounds like I'm killer sided? No, just want to make a balanced game. Survivors will get there fair shake in the long run, and i'll explain further to your replies. Thoughts on a mode like this?

Anything that splits modes will cause queue times to be longer.

Alos what benefit is there to playing competitive? Otherwise people will play casual and still be try hard sweaty.

there can be a ranking system, and queue times can easily be fixed by putting in maybe 1-10 ranks that are achieved by doing more than receiving emblems. Such as a buddy ranking system. Queue times are also going to be fixed by only allowing you to queue with one other person that must be significantly close in rank. This can easily be perfected by a good development crew. I'm just a DBD player. Regular DBD can still be there, queue times will be long unless new changes are made regardless of if there's two modes or one. So if there's a rank that can put your name on the map, including leaderboards, implementing cross-play for all platforms, then this idea can easily be put into fruition and perfected over an amount of time if BHVR really wants to put in the work.

    No.

to fix dead by daylight they need to show some balls and do a big update changing many things together, like it was the 2.0 patch. Otherwise iri heads (just to mention one big issue) will get reworked in 2021, when huntress (a normal killer, without major issues) will be looked, because of course other killers need to be looked into before.

So you want a regular mode and a mode balanced around 4 kills per game? Why exactly would anyone play survivor in that mode?. 4 man SWF already has an under 50% escape rate.

So... can't play with more than 1 friend,

Killer can take away 1 of my perks,

    Repairing generators takes longer,

I'll be limited on which perks I can bring,

and to top it all off there's no reward for this gamemode?

However you assure me that you are not Killer sided (based on...?) and that this balance things out.

I just don't see how you get to that conclusion.

You didn’t answer what I get for playing competitive mode?

  • korean_zombiekorean_zombie Member Posts: 442

-Weighting current pip system would be nice. If I’m solo que and there are 2 DCs in the match I should automatically safety pip

-weighting current pip system. If I go against a rank 5 huntress as a rank 12 survivor I should safety pip, conditions for pip and double pip should be easier to achieve.

-rank 12 killer against red rank survivors safety pip. If killer earns a pip, it should be a double pip.

    -rank 12 killer that 4ks 3 rank 16s and a rank 8 shouldn’t pip.

so in general weighting should account for the matchmaking imbalances.

gen progress should be weighted for survivors. Purple and red rank gene should take more time on gen. Say from 80 seconds to 100.

disturbed ward main building should be nerfed.

the meat packing plant, Hawkins, and lery’s should be deleted. they are terrible. No rework is necessary, cut your losses. Ormond tiles should be the same layout as Macmillan or coldwind.

  • johnmwarnerjohnmwarner Member Posts: 3,793

Interesting with that weighted scoring. Some sort of multiplier for each rank difference between killer and survivor, up or down.

That's the point, SWF's aren't always top 5% players. If so, a great SWF can escape 100% of the time. That's all opinionated and can be fixed with a few easy updates.

@TommyFredo I still haven't seen you tell us WHY we would want to play the competitive mode?

  • GodDamn_AngelaGodDamn_Angela Member Posts: 2,186

You can't say these things and then say you aren't Killer sided. You are, its not even a little questionable.

  • VincentRedfieldVincentRedfield Member Posts: 285

The point is you want a game mode balanced for 4k kills per game. Why on earth would anyone play survivor there?

  • TommyFredoTommyFredo Member Posts: 48

Read the discussion. I said to reply and i'll explain why the survivors will get their fair shake. I'm a survivor main, and I believe the games are too easy. Killers lose every game, even top tier killers. Ask questions and create a discussion instead of saying stupid #########.

The same reason there are competitive game modes in other games. For ranking, for leaderboard placing, earn cosmetics, play the best of the best in the game. I've been a red rank survivor for a good amount of time and the game gets easier by the day. The best killers I play in today's mode can barely stop a 5 gen rush. So to make a game mode where I'm actually playing the best of the best will make somebody like me (that likes competition) very happy. Winning all the time gets old.

  • TommyFredoTommyFredo Member Posts: 48

The RNG nature is an easy fix. There can be competitive only maps, where both the killer and survivors can learn and practice on. The queue times can easily be fixed as well with a few changes to the ranking system. Terrible idea? Maybe to a casual. But if you play the game wanting a challenge, and wanting the game to be at least a little bit different than it has been the last 4 years, then a competitive mode (which can be called something else) is a phenomenal idea. I'm just a player. The development team can come up with a mode that is a million times more polished than my ideas.

  • TommyFredoTommyFredo Member Posts: 48

No, not balanced for 4k kills per game. I said at the end of my first post, and I quote. "Survivors will get there fair shake in the long run, and i'll explain further to your replies." ASK ME QUESTIONS, I'm a survivor main and I can easily explain how it can be balanced for both parties. Don't make a cretinous comment like you did and maybe you'll understand the mode I'm suggesting, and you may agree by the end of the discussion.

"Survivors will get there fair shake in the long run, and i'll explain further to your replies."

I said that, so act on it. I'm a survivor main and I would love to explain further to your questions. You're acting like this idea is #########, just read my discussion and ask, make civil comments, anything but making assumptions. I want the mode to be as balanced as anybody else.

  • johnmwarnerjohnmwarner Member Posts: 3,793

You would be in the VAST MINORITY choosing playing this mode. Unless someone wants to tell me I’m wrong cosmetics and “bragging rights,” will not make people want to play against the top players. Especially killers, they will not want to choose a queue where they are going to play against sweaty survivors even with one less perk.

Cosmetics, please there are so many that even unique ones for playing ranked wouldn’t draw much attention. Plus any game with that kind of thing inevitably ends up with players selling runs. Three man SWF could charge solo players to carry them to wins.

Again, if people wanna chime in and tell me I’m wrong I’d be open to hear some feedback.

  • johnmwarnerjohnmwarner Member Posts: 3,793

To add on to what I said, the idea of casual and competitive queues had been brought up hundreds of times... there’s a reason they’ve never implemented it

  • TommyFredoTommyFredo Member Posts: 48

I suggested a two man queue cap, this can cause survivors to be a lot more professional in the way they play. VAST MINORITY of course. All competitive game modes throughout history are played by the minority, because the majority aren't great at the game. Par at best and so they decide to play the casual game mode.

  • TommyFredoTommyFredo Member Posts: 48

They've never implemented it because of the community they have. As a person who loves the game and is good but doesn't get anything for it, I'd love a mode with rewards for being at the skill level I'm at. Cosmetics and bragging rights as you call them, are the few rewards you can get for playing the mode. Like I said, I'm a player, not a developer. With their brains combined you can get an amazing reward system, which can appease the competitive community as you can call them.

The issue with this is DBD is more about the grind to lvl up and get certain things than ranks. Other games don't have that same issue as most everything is there to be played with.

So whatever mode is easier to get bloodpoints from then will be the one most play. If everyone then ends up playing one mode then nothing changes.

  • ZephinismZephinism Member Posts: 321

🤔 You're the one saying stupid stuff. Killers lose every game? Really?

  • TommyFredoTommyFredo Member Posts: 48

It's a hyperbole. In my opinion, I'm actually good at the game compared to most red ranks. I only play with other good players, so in my case 8 out of 10 games are escaped or pip'd on. So killers lose most games in my case, keyword "my". Hyperbole, an exaggeration to get to a point.

  • johnmwarnerjohnmwarner Member Posts: 3,793

Someone escaping doesn’t mean the killer lost, killers can still pip with 3 kills... depending on rank even 1-2 if you hook enough
